Meet the Captains
Captain Jason Hancock
Captain Jason has over 40 years of sailing experience and sailed thousands of nautical miles; from racing sailboats to teaching sailing to yacht deliveries. He has competed in the Newport to Ensenada Sailing Regatta and the 2024 Baja Ha-Ha Rally from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas. Captain Jason worked as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America for 12 years teaching sailing. Captain Jason is also a former US Navy Diver and holds a Master Scuba certification.
Captain Jeff Vegas
Captain Jeff Vegas' journey into sailing began at the age of 14 when he first took to the water as a Boy Scout. Over the years he has honed his skills and gained extensive experience with a diverse range of monohull and multihull sailboats, ranging in size from 28 to 60ft. Since 2013, Captain Vegas has logged an impressive 15,000+ nautical miles, navigating the California coastline from Long Beach to San Diego Bay, as well as exploring international waters. Among his many adventures, he successfully completed a 66-day, 5200 nautical mile delivery of a brand-new 42ft catamaran from For Lauderdale, Florida through the Caribbean and Panama Canal to San Diego. Captain Vegas holds a prestigious 100-ton master inland OUPV near coastal license with a sailing endorsement. Additionally, he is certified to teach a variety of ASA courses, including ASA 101, 103, 104, 114. With decades of sailing experience and a deep love for the sea, Captain Jeff is dedicated to inspiring and guiding others on their sailing journeys.
